ProntoForms gives you control over the quality of images your field users submit.

The quality you choose is up to you and is likely determined by its intended use.

Is it to have a record of work completed just to have it on file, is it something you would provide to a customer or is it a situation where you need high quality images for detailed work, audit or compliance purposes?

This setting applies to Image or Sketch Pad Question Types.

If you choose one of the first three options, regardless of what is set on the device for image quality, the form setting will override it, even if they have set their quality to be lower than what you want in the form, it will increase the quality, just for this instance.

You also have the last option of "Use Device Settings" to just use whatever the end user has set on their individual devices if no standards are needed.

Best Practice: Image Quality/Size can potentially impact the size of your submission. Always test your forms during development and throughout UAT (User Acceptance Testing) prior to rolling your form out to production. Testing forms before rolling out to production is a best practice regardless of whether images are used.

Further information about the Image and Sketch Pad Question types in our Product Documentation here: https://docs.prontoforms.com/1374411/Content/Published/360022281291.html

And documentation specific to setting the picture quality for either of these question types can be found in our Product Documentation here: https://docs.prontoforms.com/1374411/Content/Published/360022215271DataTypeAttachment.html?Highlight=image%20compression#QualSetting

Check back soon as we have a post coming up specifically on setting up a rock-solid Email Data Destination.

Have any of you used this setting in your forms? If so, it would be great to share which one your team chose and why.

    Hello Ravneet!
We use this setting quite frequently in our forms.  It's very helpful to be able to tailor the image size for the use case, especially when using larger inspection forms.  If we simply need an exterior picture of the unit being inspected, then we can use a lower quality image to save space.  When we need detailed pictures of terminal blocks or circuit board connections, then we can switch to a higher quality setting.  The ability to set image quality size has been part of our success in deploying ProntoForms at our company for quality inspections.

    Hey Jeffery,

Glad to hear that you love the feature and it is really been useful for you. Have you considered using the 'use device settings' option as well?

    Ravneet,
With a variety of devices being used by our QC department and Field Service techs, we felt that having the image quality managed by ProntoForms would provide greater consistency.
