  • 1.  Launching form with a QR code (App-to-App Call)

    Posted 11-11-2021 15:48

Looking for an alternate way to launch a form and maybe pass some pre-defined answers into the form? Why not have your users scan a QR code??

QR codes can be generated to include a ton of valuable information and more specifically, you can include a URL. Using a QR code and an app-to-app call, you can launch the app, open a form and fill in answers with a quick scan.

Without getting into the nitty gritty details about app-to-app calls (because that can be found here) an app to app call will allow you to interact with the ProntoForms app in a different way.

See a very basic sample below, when scanned will prompt you to launch the ProntoForms app. The QR Code below has the URL of: prontoforms://x-callback-url/open which will open the app.

Using this same technique, you can expand on your app-to-app call, create a few different QR Codes for different sets of forms or questions.

Have you ever thought about using QR Codes to launch a form? Are you using it now?

It had seemed to me that QR codes never really got the foot hold in North America that you saw in Europe and even more so in Asia until just recently.  I've been seeing them everywhere now, especially with all the changes businesses have made with Covid.  In the past year I've used QR codes to get access to restaurant menus, to fill out health forms, to make donations to charity, as well as for e-tickets for movies and shows, and of course to show my proof of vaccination.

I'd love to hear how others are using QR codes and even if you're a fan of them or not just in your personal routines in addition to using them with ProntoForms!

Although this is an old thread, I am thinking of using QR codes pointing to a Customer Feedback form - Customer Satisfaction Survey, Self Survey, etc

Hi Stephen, I also created a QR code for one of our customer feedback forms and had them printed on business cards. I had some of the questions filled out and pre-populated through the link address as well. This method has worked out very well for our team. We used this during a very large dispenser installation, and gave the business cards out to the charge nurses on each unit as we were going through and installing their dispensers. They could scan the QR code to let us know if they identified an area that was not yet installed or if they had a suggestion for where a dispenser should go in their unit. We set it up with an email destination to the lead installer, which gave us real-time feedback by allowing us to address their questions/opportunities during the installation while we were still there instead of needing a go-back trip.

Please share where you go with this, Stephen. I'd love to hear what you do and how it works out for you.

We have just used QR codes with the Customer Feedback Forms and it works very well.

We used them as part of an exhibition to potential clients where we were "selling" the speed of information and data from the field to their mailbox. The premise of the form was for them to take a "selfie" in front of our stand and enter their email address to get a custom form straight to their mailbox (with options for follow-up contact, etc.). Our pitch was that they would get field data in 90 seconds which we could demonstrate with the simple QR Code and Form.

That's an excellent use case for using QR Codes and Customer Feedback Forms Stephen. Did you get any feedback from your prospects at the exhibition?
